Daniel Series Overview

The Daniel Bible stories are some of the most exciting in the Bible, as we see God's faithfulness, power and protection in the lives of Daniel and his friends! God uses Daniel and his friends in great ways through many tough trials. Kids will learn about Daniel's courage in these six lessons. Daniel had couage because he knew he could trust in his great God, the one true God, the God of the Bible. These Daniel lessons for children have that theme running through them to help instill a deep, unwavering faith in kids from the start.

As you can see from the concepts below, the Daniel lessons keep the focus on God - He is the real Hero of all Bible stories, not the bible characters. They were just human, like us, but we see how God worked mightily through them when they depended on him. My Bible Crafts provides all the teaching aids in these downloads for you to teach memorable lessons that will stick with kids.

Kids don't have to know all the symbolism or allegorical concepts of the Book of Daniel to get a lot from these lessons. There are some very basic, very important core concepts of the Christian faith that we get from the first 6 chapters of the book of Daniel. These lessons are especially made for ages 3-5, but can be adapted for toddlers or children in primary grades. See the key concepts that are explained on a preschooler's / kinder's level:
The Main Concepts of the Daniel Series:

Daniel is Especially Important for Today!

The simple concepts we learn from the Book of Daniel are extremely important for these last days, when the message of the world is 'all paths lead to the same god' or 'All religions worship the same god.' These lessons explains to kids, on their level, why those kinds of messages are not true. The Daniel lessons were written in hope that kids will come away from them having a very secure faith in the one true God - the God of the Bible! Yes, saying these strong messages are unpopular in these Last Days. But we need to be willing to stand up for Jesus and the truth of his word. Because of all of the confusing messages being thrown at our precious children, they need to know the truth! I believe God is asking us, "Will you be my willing, faithful servant?"

The Daniel lessons are in skit form that follow the the actions of the Bible story. These Daniel Bible stories come alive with lots of activities: Pretend play activities; rhymes with actions for kids to do, age-appropriate crafts for young children; and printable bible story pictures that are also used as visual aids for the Sunday school lesson, to keep the children's interest high, and make the lessons interactive between the teacher and children. Kids are more likely to remember the bible story when you involve them in the bible story in these ways. Children love to "help" the teacher and like to express themselves,as well, once they feel comfortable doing so.

To make your job easier, most of the printable pictures also come in color (See thumbnails below): You can just print, cut and fold the tabs for the standups. The pictures and crafts also come in black-and-white. When using the black-and-white story pictures and visual aids, one idea is to recruit some teens to color the black-and-white printables for you, as a fun ministry activity. The Daniel Theme Sunday school lessons also includes word blocks of the main concepts for you to print and use for your classroom bulletin boards!

Excerpt from God Saved Daniel From the Lions!

Narrator: (Show Daniel Standup) We’ve been learning all about Daniel who had been taken to Babylon, along with his three friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. This week the story is about Daniel. Daniel is all grown up now. Daniel was far away from home, in a new place, so he learned many new things. But he kept some things the same. He kept believing in God -- the one true God – (Stick Bible on Daniel’s hand). The God of the Bible! (Stick Bible on Daniel’s hand, then take him away). Daniel also kept praying to God:

(Open window of Daniel’s House).
Just like always, three times a day,
Daniel knelt by his window
and there he prayed.
Who would like to say the rhyme with me? (Repeat rhyme, inviting children to say it with you this time. Close Daniel’s window).

Storyboards are a fun way to tell young children Bible stories! For the Daniel and the Lions Story Board you move the characters around, open and close the window on Daniel's House to peek at Daniel praying, put up the new laws that the king makes, and put take Daniel and the angel in and out of the lions' den. The Tri-fold display boards are inexpensive and fold up for easy storage to use again and again. If this looks like a bit much, just keep the story board simple without the words. You can also teach the Daniel and the Lions lesson without the storyboard, since there are also color-illustrated pictures and black-and-white pictures (to color) of Daniel in the den, and Daniel Praying and the scrolls of the new laws. Order the Daniel and the Lions lesson to get all the visual aids, crafts and stickers, or download the Daniel and the Lions Storyboard instructions to make it for your own pictures.

How To Make the Daniel and the Lions Storyboard

Design Your Storyboard: Arrange the words and pictures in a way that you think will work best for you and your class. The storyboard design above is just one possibility. Read through the lesson to familiarize yourself with it. Play with the pictures and characters to see what works best. After you decide on your storyboard design, glue the Den, Daniel’s House, and the Words to the Storyboard with extra-strength glue.

Daniel’s House: Daniel’s house Cut a big rectangle out of construction paper. (The one in photo is 8” X 12”). Cut a window in the house, but leave the left side attached, and fold. You’ll need to open and close it when the lesson indicates to do so. (Window is 3-1/2” X 2-3/4). Roof: Cut a rectangle with the edge slanted. (See photo). Glue Daniel’s house onto the Storyboard with extra-strength glue.

Den: Cut a large semi-circle shape out of craft or construction paper. Crumple, then straighten to give it a “rock” look. Add crayon marks (with crayon laid on its side) for added “texture”. Make smaller semi-circle shape out of black construction paper to glue on top of that (Inside of den). Make sure it’s big enough to fit all of your characters. Use extra-strength glue to glue the den onto the Storyboard. (The one in the photo is 11” X 10”).

Stickers: Print the black-and-white pictures and color them (shown above), or print the color-illustrated pictures: The Scrolls, Sun, Moon, Daniel Kneeling, Lions will need to be repositionable since you’ll moving them around during the lesson. Also put restickable glue on the back of the Angel and the Princes. To make repositionable stickers, place restickable glue or Elmer’s™ Repositionable glue on the back of the pictures.  Allow to dry before sticking.

Standups: If you have already done lessons 3 or 4, use the Angel from that lesson. The new standups you’ll need to make for this lesson are: King Darius, Grown-up Daniel and the Two Princes. Put restickable glue on the back of the Angel and the Princes. Fold back the tabs before sticking. See Craft instructions.

Limited Sharing: To get maximum use out of your Bible Storyboard, you may also share your lesson and bible resources with the teachers of your same local church or preschool, and with your own family. See the terms and conditions of using these printables. This lesson is best-suited for ages 3-6.

How to Use the Daniel and the Lions Storyboard:

Place Storyboard on the table. Reserve a seat for yourself next to the Storyboard. You may want to have a helper to place the stickers on the opposite side of the Storyboard. Seat children so they can all see it.

Introduce the characters to the scene and stand them up in front of the board when indicated in the lesson. The lesson (skit) will also tell you when to add and remove your stickers.

Daniel and the Lions Bible Play Set: Make the characters more sturdy by laminating or placing clear Contact Paper TM over your stickers and characters before cutting them out. Let children re-tell the story in their own words using the Bible play set.

Order the Daniel and the Lions lesson to get all the visual aids, crafts and stickers, or download the Daniel and the Lions Storyboard instructions to make it for your own pictures.

Download the Storyboard instructions to see how to make it and see how its used.

King Nebbie beast puppet that eats paper grass. The humble and thankful beast puppet helps tell the end of the story -- and explains to the children what mercy is. He spits out the grass and asks you to take the (paper) chain off of him. Chain not shown.

The Daniel Chapter 4 Sunday school lesson should be a lot of fun for the children as they learn the very important concepts about God's soverignty and his mercy (Simple language is used in the lesson). The pictures and storyboard make it easy for you to capture the children's attention. The kids will have fun participating as they counting the seven long years with you, do the actions to the rhyme about the story, answer important questions about the story, and see you interacting with the humbled Nebbie the Beast puppet (pictured above, right).

has some very important Bible story for both adults and children, as well. Adults get the message that it's about King Nebuchadnezzar's pride, and learn how he was humbled. But young children don't have a lot of pride, so those concepts would probably fly right over their heads. Instead, we use the more basic concepts of the Bible story: That God is great! He rules over all of heaven and earth! And, he is full of mercy! Even very young children will get those concepts when they are explained in both the story and the activities.

This lesson helps kids get the points and the key concepts of the lesson through a variety of activities: The lesson is in skit form that keeps kids' attention with all of the visual aids that they can see up close when you set up your storyboard: The standup Bible characters, the animals, the big tree sticker, the stump (Stumpy) and the Nebbie Beast character, along with the bird and fruit stickers. (We show you how to make an inexpensive one easily). The Nebbie Beast Paper Bag puppet is used to tell the end of the story. Nebbie looks back on what happened and tells how thankful he is for God's mercy, and explains what mercy is, on a child's level, so they understand what that is.

The color-illustrated picture to the right is a visual aid of the tree with fruit to use as a visual aid for the children's bible lesson about the king's dream of the tree in Daniel 4. (The tree is cut down to a stump in the Daniel 4 bible story). The tree comes with a few pieces of fruit on it, and there are more fruit stickers to add and take away (and give some to the animals) when it tells you to in the lesson.

The second picture to the right is a coloring page for Daniel 4, of the tree in the king's dream with fruit, birds and animals. It has the title of the lesson on top: Our Great God Rules Over All -- From the Great Big to the Very Small!

How To Make the Daniel 4 King’s Dream Storyboard

Bible Storyboard Instructions for Children’s Bible Lesson based on Design Your Storyboard: You can arrange the words and pictures in a way that you think will work best for you and your class. The storyboard design above is just one possibility. Read through the lesson and play with the pictures and characters to see what suits your teaching style best. Words: After you decide on your storyboard design, glue the words where you want them (Use restickable glue to try out the positions). Daniel 4  (King’s Dream of the Tree):

Stickers: Print the black-and-white pictures and color them (shown above), or print the color-illustrated pictures. Note: Enlarge the Tree to 1-1/2 X its original size (150%) while printing or making a copy). The stickers will need to be restickable (or repositionable) since you’ll be adding the pictures to, and taking the pictures away, from your Bible storyboard for the lesson (skit). To make repositionable stickers, place restickable or repositionable glue on the back of the pictures: Tree, the Stump (Stumpy), King Nebuchadnezzar (Nebbie), King Nebbie beast, the fruit, and birds.

Standups: If you have already done lessons 1-3, you already have Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar, and the Angel from the previous lessons. (These characters are also included in this lesson, as well). The only new standup you’ll need to make for this lesson is the Animals Standup. You’ll also use the Nebbie Beast Paper Bag Puppet for the last part of this fun Sunday School lesson for children. (See Craft Instructions).

How to Use the King’s Dream Storyboard:

As Visual Aid for Bible Story Based on Daniel Chapter 4 Children’s Bible play set Limited Sharing

Place Storyboard on the table. Seat children so they can all see it. Introduce the characters to the scene and stand them up in front of the board when indicated in the lesson. The lesson (skit) will also tell you when to add and remove your stickers.

Make the characters a little sturdier by laminating or placing clear Contact Paper TM, or Press-n-Seal TM food wrap over your stickers and characters before cutting them out. Let children re-tell the story in their own words using the Bible play set.
To get maximum use out of your Bible Storyboard, remember, you can also share your lesson and bible resources with the teachers of your same local church or preschool, and with your own family. See the terms and conditions of using these printables. The lesson and visuals are best-suited for ages 3-6.

Sometimes you can find them for $1.00 at dollar stores. If you already did MyBibleCrafts's Daniel Lessons 1 and 2, then you already have the king and the Three Hebrew Children Standups; so for this lesson you would just need to make the angel, fire, people bowing (see front of people bowing visual aid) and giant gold statue (Double the size on a copier). Then you just make the Easy Paper Bag Fiery Furnace craft (below). You'll just move the characters around, make the people bow down, and insert the angel and the Three Hebrew Children into the Fiery Furnace at the right time in the Bible Story/Skit. This would also make a fun Daniel 3 fiery furnace family craft project for family devotions. See how to set up and use the Fiery Furnace Storyboard for children. Preschool Kindergarten Sunday School Lesson / Skit for Daniel 3

God Saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the Fire!

It could be said that the story of Daniel Chapter 3 is one of the most exciting Bible stories of the Bible! It speaks of strong faith, courage and a changed king! Even though this story has prophetic significance for End Times, young children can learn some very basic and very important Biblical truths without learning anything about prophecy. In fact, the reason these lessons were written is because Christ followers will need strong faith for the trials and tribulations of these last days. Will you join with me to prepare children's hearts and minds to learn some of the most basic concepts of the Christian faith that we see in the (true) bible stories of Daniel and his three friends?

To help you tell this exciting Bible story of the three Hebrew children in a way to capture your children's attention and really see up-close what these three experienced, there are many visual aids, pictures and activities packed in this lesson that closely follows the Biblical narrative. Much of the lesson (in skit form) is rhyming verse to make it fun and memorable. The three moveable character Stnadups are: the angel, Daniel's friends (Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego), King Nebuchadnezzar. Children are invited to join in the activities, such as playing music, counting the men in the fiery furnace with you, and sniffing the Friends after they come out of the fire to see if they smell like smoke.

The short Talk Time explains the key concepts of the lesson, emphasizes the Friends' courage and strong faith in God, goes over the key verse, and ends in a prayer time. If all of these activities and crafts look like a bit too much for you to do with your small class, or your limited time with the children, its not a problem. You don't have to make the Fiery Furnace Storyboard or even do the "project" crafts. We've included a Quick and Easy Fiery Furnace crafts. For the lesson, just move the characters around a little and hold up the gold statue, scroll and Fiery Furnace Craft when the lesson indicates for you to.

shadrach, meshach and abednego craft

This lesson closely follows the bible story to tell the story of Daniel and his friends, after Jerusalem was captured by King Nebuchadnezzar (Nebbie, for short). There are printable pictures for you to use to tell this exciting bible story, and a Daniel puppet, as well. During the Talk Time, you help kids understand the difference between truth and lies (We show you how to make it fun and easy for kids to understand, using some props). Some other activities that you can do to reinforce the concepts of the lesson is a rhyme with actions that sums up the bible story. There's also a warm-up activity, a (healthy) snack idea, and another fun age-appropriate activity that the children participate in for this lesson that uses Daniel the puppet or Standup Character.

Lesson 1: This lesson, based on Daniel Chapter 1, is about Daniel and his friends after Jerusalem was captured by King Nebuchadnezzar Besides the lesson (which is in skit form) and visual aids, there are fun crafts and activities. The key concept for this preschool lesson is: Daniel kept his faith, the one true faith! The take-away from the lesson: The Bible is God's book -- the book of truth. It's my book too.

Free Daniel 1 Craft for Kids (especially preschoolers and kinders) - Download the Craft instructions for Daniel's 3D Veggies Craft

Don't the vegetables look delicious? This fun craft is specifically for Daniel 1 - the bible story of how Daniel and his friends refuse the king's food and request to eat just vegetables and water. We've made this fun craft free. It would be fun for kids aged 2-10. It does take more than just a few minutes to make a whole plate of vegetables. If you're short on time, you can just have the younger children make a few vegetables and put them on a small paper plate (6"), or have some older children helpers to help the younger ones tape together their vegetables. You can cut some shapes out of paper ahead of time to speed things up.

Tape a rectangle of green tissue paper around 3/4 of the “cob”, letting corn show through. Cut husk shapes at the top. Fold down in front. (See photo above). (If you don't have pool noodles, just roll up rectangles of yellow construction paper to make a tube, and let "husk cover both ends).

Red Potatoes: Scrunch up 12 X 12” sheets of tissue paper. Form a rounded shape. Tape closed.

Celery Sticks: Cut 4” X 3” rectangles of light green construction paper. Roll up and tape sides together.

Daniel Lesson / Skit 2 - Daniel and His Friends Prayed to God - The One True God!
Daniel and his friends prayed to God coloring page and illustrated story picture.

This exciting lesson (in skit form) is based on Daniel 2:1-49, has a lot to offer kids. There are some very important, simple concepts that we find at the heart of the Daniel Bible stories. Contained in this digital download are all the tools to make it easy for preschoolers to understand these very basic concepts that are so important today to counteract of all of the deceptive messages from world. The key concept of lesson 2 is: There is one true God - the God of the Bible. We can rely on him. The key verses are: Daniel 2:47 and Daniel 2:23.

To keep things simple we provide a Daniel stand-up craft and the King Nebuchadnezzar stand-up craft to help you tell the story in a fun way. We call him King Nebbie, for short. Kids get to see, up close, the statue of the king's dream. They don't need to understand all the different pieces and the symbolism. The take-away they get from the statue activities and statue puzzle is that God's kingdom will last forever! Kids get to take turns throwing the rock (paper wad) at the statue and watch it blow away, as in the king's dream. They learn how King Nebuchadnezzar learned that Daniel's God is the 'God of Gods and Lord over all the kings!' They will get it that God worked in a powerful way to show the King Nebuchadnezzar and everyone present that Daniel's God is the one true God!

For Talk Time Activities, you're shown how to do a quick object lesson to show kids the difference between real and pretend. Preschoolers already know this, but we take it a step further and make sure they understand that the 'other gods' in the story were just pretend gods, and Daniel's God (and our God) -- the God of the Bible -- is the one true God! Then there's a short encouraging message, focusing on the prayer that Daniel prayed, to emphasize that Daniel prayed to God because he knew he could rely on the God of Abraham and Jacob -- the God of the Bible, and that we can rely on him too! (It's explained on a preschool level in the lesson). See more activities below.
